About Pro Korpo

Pro Korpo r.f. is a local association founded in 2014 to act as a forum for cooperation in local development work in Korpo.

Pro Korpo participates as a partner in various development projects in the archipelago, and produces and coordinates various activities and events in the interests of local residents, part-time residents and local businesses and associations.

We also help other associations to promote their services through various channels, especially through our member magazine Pro Korpo Bladet. On the second Saturday in June, Pro Korpo co-ordinates the annual event "Summer Start - Kesästartti" in Korpo together with the local associations and entrepreneurs.

Collaboration & sustainability are two keywords in our business, and all the projects we do are based on them.

Activities

Korpo Bladet

Pro Korpo Bladet is a highly appreciated and well-established information channel for events and services in Korpo. It contains everything from event calendars to the services and activities of local businesses, as well as village stories and interviews and articles about interesting people and/or events in Korpo. In 2022, through a collaboration with photographer Peter Mustelin, we have highlighted various people connected to Korpo through a monthly personal portrait. The portrait series has been very popular and we will continue with it in 2023 as well.

You can find all issues of Korpo Bladet here.

Summer start

On the second Saturday in June, the local residents gather for a joint party to celebrate the start of the summer season. The summer start is a collaboration between Pro Korpo r.f., associations and entrepreneurs operating on the island. Every year, fun activities are organised by the associations and entrepreneurs, such as fashion shows, tractor exhibitions and tractor cavalcades around the village, stand-up, pop-up cafés, street food, market square sale and so on. Contact Pro Korpo r.f. for more information about the Summer Start.

The next Summer Start will be organised on Saturday 8 June 2024

Association cooperation

Pro Korpo r.f. acts as an umbrella organisation for the associations operating in Korpo. We aim to improve cooperation between different associations by, for example, coordinating the annual calendar of events so that events do not "clash" with each other.

Collaboration & sustainability are two keywords in our business, and all the projects we do are based on them.

Pro Korpo r.f. is a local association founded in 2015 to act as a co-operation forum for local development work in Korpo.

Our goal for 2024 is to continue to make Korpo even more vibrant and attractive to residents, migrants and visitors. In 2024, we will focus on the following activities:

The association held its annual meeting on 9 April 2024. The annual meeting elected Ida-Kajsa Johansson as chairman. Other members of the board are Laura Wickström, Sara Söderlund, Anne-Christine Jansson, Tage Österlund, Torgils Bäckman, Vesa Vuoristo, Ivo Corda and Erika Silventoinen. Deputies are Joel Seligson, Kristian Eklund, Elina Kauppila.

  1. Signposting: The signage in Korpo is in many ways inadequate and we aim to renew the signage at the Galtby road junction and at Retais to attract travellers on the ring road to Kyrkbyn, as well as to Rumar and Korpoström.
  2. Visit the Korpo portal: Since its launch in 2022, the Visit Korpo web portal has worked very well to disseminate information about Korpo, and we are actively working to continue developing the site. In 2024, we want to implement a blog on Visit Korpo, among other things. The blog is needed to make the site more dynamic, create more material about Korpo and life in the archipelago, and act as a window into what life is like on a small archipelago island in 2024. We also plan to help the local associations in Korpo to gain greater visibility by offering them their own association page on Visit Korpo.
  3. The member magazine Pro Korpo Bladet: We will continue to publish the member magazine Pro Korpo Bladet during the financial year 2024. The magazine has been published monthly since June 2017 and is distributed to all permanent households in Korpo. Part-time residents and visitors can buy the magazine in local shops. Members outside Korpo can subscribe to the magazine or read it for free at www.visitkorpo.fi/korpo-bladet.
  4. Association coordinator in Korpo: Pro Korpo also wants to continue to act as an association coordinator in Korpo and coordinate the Summer Start event on Saturday 8 June 2024.
  5. Bobarhet: A new project now being planned for 2024 is to participate in a joint project to study the "Bobarhet" of the Pargas archipelago districts within the framework of the Archipelago Institute at Åbo Akademi University's Habitability project. Pro Korpo participates in the working group that will work on the project.
