A small island, with everything you need

Korpo is a vibrant community all year round. The period after Midsummer until the start of school in August is the busiest in Korpo, when the population increases tenfold. But life goes on during the rest of the year too. Korpo has several active associations, many energetic entrepreneurs, and events and activities are organised all year round.

Daghem

The Korpo municipal kindergarten currently has around 30 children aged 1-6 years. The day care centre is located in the same building as the Archipelago Sea School and Ulkosaariston koulu in Korpo. We have activities in Swedish and Finnish for children aged 1-5 and preschool. The beach and forest are nearby, as well as a sports field and an exercise track. Our kindergarten is small and safe, where the children know the staff and each other. Despite its size, Korpos kindergarten is a truly international kindergarten where 7 different languages are spoken.

School

The Elementary school SkÀrgÄrdshavets skola is a school with students from preschool to grade 9. The Finnish school Ulkosaariston koulu, Korpo Library, Korpo Kindergarten and the central kitchen are also located in the same building, the school centre. The school is attended by pupils from Korpo and in grades 7-9 also from the HoutskÀr municipality area.

The school has a total of about 50 students taught by 13 teachers. Some teachers are shared with Kyrkbackens skola in Nagu and Ulkosaariston koulu. School life is characterised by a natural cooperation across language borders, as break areas, classrooms and the teachers' room are shared by both schools. A large proportion of pupils come to the school by taxi and bus, and travel by one to three ferries to get to the school.

The school is located close to nature, with the sea on one side and the forest on the other. The school actively promotes outdoor activities and as an extra subject in grades 8-9 there is a subject called Archipelago Studies, which highlights old archipelago traditions and new thinking about industries and tourism. The school cooperates with the Finnish school and with the schools in Nagu and HoutskÀr on various events and excursions.

Longing for peace and quiet? Maybe you dream of renovating an old house, growing your own food and downshifting? Korpo has all the possibilities! Korpo has recently become increasingly popular among people looking for an alternative to the hectic city life. The Corona pandemic and the new wave of remote work possibilities has made it possible to live and work in places other than your workplace. Opportunities for livelihoods are also great if you are prepared to take on a variety of construction, cleaning and yard work, as well as jobs in the elderly, health and day care sectors. Check the Korpo job vacancies section (link a work in Korpo) for more information.

What better place to enjoy your retirement than in the archipelago? Here we have (almost) as many sunny days as in the sunny coast of Spain :D Korpo's pensioners are very active and organise many fun activities. Job opportunities in Korpo

There is a misconception that there are no jobs in the archipelago. Ask any archipelago entrepreneur and the answer will be "there are more jobs than I can take". Of course, it also depends on the industry you want to work in, but if you are willing to work in construction, cleaning and yard work, for example, as well as elderly, health and day care, there is enough work to go around.

Being a multitasker and having your own business is also a strength in the archipelago. During the summer season, workers are needed in the tourism sector, and during the rest of the year there is a great need for temporary workers in various sectors. Below you can see what vacancies and job opportunities are available in Korpo.
